Florescendo
Flourishing
This exhibition brings together a series of photographic works in which blossoms and flower fragments emerge from a deep black background. Detached from their natural context, they appear not as decorative natural motifs, but as independent pictorial entities—concentrated, fragile, almost physically present.
Through a deliberate reduction to black and white, the photographs translate the otherwise exuberant color of the Algarve into a play of light and shadow. Color is withdrawn to reveal form, structure, and gesture. The blossom becomes a vehicle of tension, not ornament.
The series combines portrait photography with abstract photography: blossoms and fragments are treated like portraits—frontal, isolated, with individual presence.
Between proximity and abstraction, intimacy and distance, a chromatic reductionism unfolds, sharpening the eye and slowing down the act of seeing. The exhibition invites us to reconsider the familiar — not as a botanical motif, but as a silent encounter.
